To douse the palpable tension over the appointments of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) into boards of parastatals and agencies, the Federal Government has reassured the state chairmen and the secretaries of the party of working in their favour.
The assurance of the Federal Government came from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir Lawal, who led a delegation of the cabinet members to a stakeholders meeting with the leadership of the APC in the states at the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.
A state chairman of the APC, who pleaded anonymity, said that the presidency assured them that they are working in tandem with them and that they should disregard what they read from the media.
He said: “We were told to disregard the reports in the media on the board appointments. We were told that the delay in the release of the appointments was as a result that the presidency wants to get it right.
“The SGF assured us that the list would soon be released as the compilation was in going. According to him, no party member should feel that he would not be accommodated in the appointment.
“He stated that the presidency was concerned that appointments of Board members would be round pegs in round holes.”
