Islamic scholar and cleric, Sheikh Hussaini Yusuf Mabera, has threatened to take Nigerian pastor T.B Joshua of the Synagogue to court for describing Jesus as God.
He made the threat in a message shared on his Facebook wall where he chastised the pastor for his habit of referring to Jesus Christ as God.
“I’m filing a case to the Federal High Court of Nigeria against Pastor T.B Joshua and co-pastors for speaking a lie against Jesus Christ by calling him God“, he wrote.
Mabera added that while he is a regular viewer of Emmanuel TV where Joshua’s sermons are broadcast, he was “completely aghast” when he heard the “so-called” Prophet T.B Joshua of Emmanuel TV calling Jesus God “in the presence of thousands of people, including professors, doctors, reverend fathers and mothers, pastors and bishops“.
According to Mabera, the Bible itself contradicts the belief that Jesus is a spirit being and Joshua and others like him lack “proper understanding” of the Scripture.
“As I was watching T.B Joshua speaking through Emmanuel TV and his audience helplessly watching and listening to his accumulated lies and unfounded praise singing directed at Jesus, I almost cried with automatic alacrity when he said that Jesus is God“
“… both TB Joshua and other Christians actually read their Bible without proper understanding of what they are reading” Mabera added.
“In conclusion, I’m ready to petition any Christian hot gospeller like TB Joshua and others before any court of law for calling Jesus God and deceiving nd misguiding their innocent followers with their preposterous lies aginst Jesus Christ. Let us meet in court and debate it out. Enough is enough” he declared.
Mabera, who runs an Islamic school where students are taught the art of defending the Islamic faith, has gained a certain level of notoriety for his controversial posts on Facebook.
In one such post dated October 16, 2016, he asks people to show respect to muslim women in hijab who are “following the example of Mary the mother of Jesus observing the highest level of modesty”
