The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called on the Federal Government to do all it can to attract private capital both from domestic and global investors.

The President of LCCI, Dr. Nike Akande, made the call on Thursday during a presidential dialogue session in Lagos.

Acknowledging that the short-term outlook of the key economic indicators was not bright, Akande remarked that the country needed a mix of policies to get out of the current economic downturn adding that the country should do everything in its power to attract private capital.

She said, “At a time like this, we should do all that we can to attract private capital, both from the domestic economy and the global investing community.

“We are aware that there are huge financing gaps, especially in the infrastructure delivery. We would like to see an acceleration of the Public Private Partnership projects, especially in infrastructure to create the desired environment.”

The LCCI president noted that more work was needed in the area of policies that promote economic diversification and stabilising the foreign exchange market.

She added,“There is a need for regular engagements and communication on policy issues to ensure quality feedback and enrich the policymaking process. This should cover macroeconomic policies as well as sectoral policies.

“The message is that regular engagement with relevant stakeholders in the various sectors will bring a lot of value.”
