A group of northern youth under the aegis of North East Youth Peace Development and Empowerment Initiative (NEYPDEI) has demanded apology from Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, over his previous comments that no Chibok girl was missing.

It would be recalled that Fayose has consistently maintained that the story of missing Chibok girls was a hoax intended to settle a political score.

Alhaji Kyari Idris Abubakar, President, NEYPDI, who commended the efforts of civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) and the military over the rescue of Amina Ali, one of the abducted Chibok girls in 2014, expressed disgust at the manner Fayose had decided to play politics with human lives.

Abubakar said: “We are disturbed at the manner Fayose who is supposed to know better has dignified politics against human lives.”

Abubakar further stated that many Nigerians were becoming weary of Fayose’s antics which were diversionary.

“We appealed to Nigerians not to take Fayose serious because his action and comments were not in conformity with the reality of things,” he said.

The group advised the governor to be more concerned about providing quality leadership to the people of Ekiti State, instead of dabbling into issues to mislead Nigerians.

Abubakar described the experience of the parents of missing Chibok girls in the past two years as very traumatic which they did not expect any comment that would worsen their emotional state.

“We know how many parents have lost their lives since April 14, 2014, when the girls were abducted and now, so, for somebody to sit somewhere and say that no girl was missing is beyond insensitive.”

The group, however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to wipe out insurgency in the area and other parts of the country.
