Abducted Senator Anisulowo Rescued, Two Suspected Kidnappers Arrested

Six days after her abduction, a former Minister of State for Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, was Tuesday rescued from suspected kidnappers.

Two suspects were also arrested by the police in connection‎ with the abduction of the former minister.
Anisulowo, 65, was kidnapped last Wednesday ‎while returning from her farm in Sawonjo, Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.

Her Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle with registration number LSD 115 AM was recovered by the police shortly after the incident.

Though details of her rescue were sketchy at press time, it was learnt that the former minister regained her freedom at about 7:00pm at Gbegbelawo village, near Olorunda town in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the rescue Tuesday night.

“The police have rescued‎ Senator Iyabo Anisulowo at a village called Gbegbelawo, near Olorunda town, Ogun State today at about 7pm. Two suspects arrested,” he said.

It will be recalled that the police deployed two helicopters in the search for the ex-minister and also offered N5million reward to informants.

Also Tuesday, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who had vowed that Anisulowo would be rescued unhurt, expressed delight at the rescue of the former minister.
