The Lagos State University College of Medicine said on Monday that it had resuscitated the parents’ forum platform of the college.
It added that the decision was to form good rapport between the school and parents of students, as well as to achieve the N24bn endowment fund target of the new administration.
According to the Head of the Information Unit of the college, Mrs. Ibironke Akitoye, in a statement said the Provost of LASUCOM, Prof. Babatunde Solagberu, noted that the forum would be a platform for the parents to share in the vision of the college.
“LASUCOM under this administration is redefining the vision of the institution in order to place the college in its rightful position as a leading medical college in Africa.
“We rely on the parents to help in the fulfillment of their children’s dreams by working together”, the statement quoted Solagberu as saying.
Solagberu commended the state government for providing necessary human and financial support for the college, adding that the government alone could not do everything, hence all hands must be on deck to support the government and the college.
He affirmed that his administration would always be proactive in dealing with challenges, saying parents should lend a hand of support.
He said since inception LASUCOM had produced over 500 doctors, who had been excelling in their various endeavours.
He added the college in the next few months would produce its first set of dental doctors.
