The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has declared that the federal government will holistically address the issue of Fulani herdsmen, farmers’ crises and destruction of farm crops in some parts of the country.

Shittu said this in Ibadan while speaking with newsmen shortly after attending the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the Artisan Association of Nigeria, Oyo state branch.

The minister said the issue of Fulani herdsmen and the farmers, especially, in Oyo state, should not be seen as being only that of the state, but as a national problem as “it is not peculiar to Oke Ogun in Oyo state alone”.

“The problem of Fulani herdsmen is a national problem, it is not peculiar to Oke Ogun in Oyo state alone. It is in many other states. The problem poses challenge to federal government now and it will be holistically addressed,” he said.

The minister stressed further that “though, whether we like it or not, we must accommodate them, that does not give room for criminality,” saying, “the appropriate arms of government will solve the problem”.

“You would agree with me that Mr. President has given a matching order to the security personnel to deal with the situation”

On the foreign trips by President Muhammadu Buhari, the minister insisted that Nigeria and Nigerians will benefit immensely in the area of technology, saying the President’s visits to Korea, China and India, was aimed at seeing how technology in these countries could be replicated in Nigeria.
