As  part of the efforts to rid the lottery industry of illegal operators, National Lottery Regulatory Commission, NLRC, and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, are collaborating to flush out illegal operators from the industry.

At a joint briefing by the  NLRC and the EFCC  yesterday in Abuja, the Director-General of the NLRC, Adolphus Loe Ekpe, said the commission would not fold its arms and watch illegal operators hijack the lottery industry.

He said the collaboration would eliminate illegal operators and strengthen the commission’s regulatory functions.

Ekpe explained that the NLRC had developed an action plan for the development of the sector, to ensure transparency, accountability and propriety as required by law.

According to him, “This will enable the commission to achieve optimal revenue generation for government.”

Ekpe explained that the two key drivers of the plan would include mapping of all lottery agents and sub-agents to enable the Commission have a clearer view of operations of licensees and also solve the issue of non-disclosure or under- disclosure of lottery proceeds by licensees.
