FirstBank New App To Enhance Mobile Banking Experience

With the continuous mobile innovation and technology growth in the country, no sector of the economy seems to be doing things the traditional way anymore.

Even the banking sector known to be very conservative before, is wearing that toga now. Everybody is showing Swagg and this has seamlessly transmuted to
core institutions.

Institutions like First bank of Nigeria, which with its over 120 years of business operation, was known to lead the conservative approach to business is also now seen as leading the innovation campaign.

From partnering WAEC on e-registration forms of candidates for the November/December 2014 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to partnering with the Ekiti State University on strengthening existing infrastructure on Information Communication Technology, edu portal, to incorporate details of students’ transcripts from entry point of admission to graduating year, the bank has shown evidence that its new life is guided by technological improvements.

Recently, it has just unveiled an enhanced mobile application, FirstMobile, which it said will enhance its customers digital experiences.

The bank says the mobile banking app is another secure platform that allows customers to execute banking transactions and access lifestyle news content on the go from their mobile phones.

It is touted to currently be the only mobile banking app that the customer can download on their mobile phone, activate and transact on without having to visit a bank branch.

Unveiling the app, at its Victoria Island headquarters, recently, Group Head e-business Mr Chuma Ezirim, said that with the smartphone app, customers can enjoy real-time mobile banking services such as domestic funds transfer from self-owned accounts to other FirstBank accounts and other bank accounts; as well as make quick airtime purchase for self and others on all mobile networks; bills payments; cheque services including confirm cheque and stop cheque, flight booking; and quick account services such as account balance inquiry, statement view and much more.

He claimed that the App was situated in a highly secured environment to protect users account on the App. “The App is PIN protected. The PIN is uniquely linked to the App on your device. All transactions on the App are validated by either a transaction PIN known only to you or the Bank’s issued token.

All these are in addition to other security measures put in place to ensure that your transaction information is protected from intruders” he added. Transaction PIN is required to authorize transactions within a daily limit, meaning that the user has to input the Transaction PIN at the point of carrying out a transaction.
